Maya Chocolate & Spice Farm
Tour Description:
Join us on an adventure to the deep south of Belize to experience the making of our native chocolate and explore the only spice farm in the country filled with different varieties of herbs, spices, and fruit trees.
We’ll start the day by driving down the lush southern highway, where we’ll arrive to a local chocolate producer and Mayan-owned business. Here you’ll see and learn about the cacao tree, its cultivation, and its important history with the Mayan people. After taking a tour through the cacao farm, you’ll have the opportunity to make your own chocolate the traditional way. The cacao farm tour will end with a local, Mayan-infused lunch.
In the afternoon, we’ll head to the Belize Spice Farm & Botanical Gardens where you’ll have a chance to tour the spice blocks and botanical gardens on the property. Here you’ll get a first-hand feel and taste for spices like: vanilla, cardamom, all spice, cinnamon, black pepper and nutmeg, while also learning about the spice origins and cultivation process.
